Licensing

    All hunters require the appropriate license for the game that they are hunting. For both Texas and out of state hunters, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has both online and phone licensing available. Click here for licensing information.

    For a full listing of regulations, The Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife maintains an excellent site at tpwd.state.tx.us Additionally, Texas also requires stamps for particular types of animals and styles of hunting. A full listing can be found at Stamps

    Out of State - Hunting Licenses Fees
    As of December 2005

    Non-resident General Hunting (Type 105): $300
        Whitetail deer, Turkey, Hog, Javelina, Dove, Quail
        Valid to hunt any legal bird or animal except alligators.

    Non-resident Special Hunting (Type 107): $125
        Hogs, Quail, Dove, Javelina
        Valid to hunt: Exotic animals, all legal game birds (except turkeys), all non-game animals (except alligators), and squirrel and javelina (not valid for other game animals)

    Non-resident 5-Day Special Hunting (Type 157): $45
        Hogs, Quail, Dove, Javelina
        Legal for any period of 5 days in a row (valid hunting dates printed on the license when issued). Valid to hunt: Exotic animals, all legal game birds (except turkeys), all non-game animals (except alligators), and squirrel and javelina (not valid for other game animals)

    Non-resident Spring Turkey (Type 118): $120
        Valid to hunt turkey only during the open spring turkey season. Holders of this license are exempt from the Turkey Stamp Fee requirements. (Unlawful to possess both this license and a valid Non-Resident General Hunting License.)

    Disabled Veteran Hunting and Fishing License (License Type 502):
        Free. Qualified disabled veterans must still be licensed but there is no fee. They are still required to purchase stamps.

    Lost/Destroyed License/Stamp
        Any type of license or stamp that has been lost or destroyed can be replaced at any license sales location. Replacement fees vary from $1-$6. Licensee must sign an Application for Replacement License.

    SPECIAL NOTE: A hunting license is required of any person, regardless of age, who hunts in this state. Non-residents under 17 years of age are considered as residents and may purchase the Special Resident Hunting License. No STATE stamp fees are required for any resident or non-resident under 17 years of age.
